New Zealand: Marlborough

10 questions · 5 min

New Zealand is one of the wine world's most dramatic success stories. Marlborough at the northern tip of the South Island is the world capital of Sauvignon Blanc. The cool, sunny climate with strong diurnal temperature variation produces grapes with intensely aromatic notes of passion fruit, lime, green herbs, and freshly cut grass. The style is immediately recognisable and now defines how the world perceives the variety. Marlborough produces the majority of all New Zealand wine and exports globally. Pinot Noir from Central Otago (south of Marlborough) is New Zealand's second major wine profile.
